Q:   Can I get admission in VNIT Nagpur for BTech in Mechanical Engineering if my rank is between 25000 and 30000?
A: 

For last year, the closing rank for BTech in Mechanical Engineering was 29930 which is very close to this range. This was for General category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing year on year, it is advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of getting admission in VNIT Nagpur.

The opening and closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For General category under All India, opening rank was 30764 and closing rank was 43910. Solid mechanical engineering experience at VNIT Nagpur.
Placements: The batch 2024 mechanical batch. Ni vnit, placements are strong, 90% placed. The package is 31LPA, the average package offered is 9LPA, and the lowest package offered is 5LPA. Top recruiters include HPCL, Maruti Suzuki, BPCL, Aditya Birla, and John Deere. Roles are mainly GET, design, projects, and quality engineer. Internships are too good, especially for 7+ CGPA students.
Infrastructure: VNIT has solid labs, a huge digital library, and a good sports infrastructure. Classrooms are basic, no AC, and hostels improve as you go from shared to single rooms with LAN connections. Mess food is average, Sports /Medical are excellent, and campus life is vibrant.
Faculty: Mechanical depth at the VNI solid faculty is qualified, and some are from there, though teaching quality varies. The curriculum is strong, with labs, projects, and industry visits making you job ready in core fields. Exams are moderate, regular study is enough to clear overall good fundamentals, but you need self effort for extra skills like coding.
Other: I am from the mechanical engineering branch, with 115 students per batch. The course is four years, covering all core areas like thermodynamics, design, and manufacturing, with solid lab exposure. Placements are strong if you have maintained a 7.5 CGPA. Chances of getting placed are almost certain, the highest packages go to top performers, and even average is decent for a core branch. I chose mechanical because I like machines and wanted a balanced theory and practical, and Vnit offers exactly that. Still, the syllabus feels a bit outdated. Classroom and Wi-fi could improve, and the mess food is just average.

The view of VNIT college from the eyes of a sophomore.
Placements: For mechanical engineering branch in the year 2024-2025, a placement percentage of 95+ was achieved, with the highest package being given by BPCL. The average and median were about 11.6 LPA and 10.8 LPA, respectively. The college has a reputation for having a higher placement percentage for mechanical students, even when compared to CSE from the last 2 years.
Infrastructure: There is very good infrastructure in the college for most of the programs, specifically for mechanical, there is a Siemens centre of excellence in which VNIT students can take part in certification courses in labs like product design and validation, test and optimization, reverse engineering, and many more. The mechanical engineering department has one smart classroom and many other classes. The only thing to complain about in the hostels is the food.
Faculty: The teachers from the department of Mechanical Engineering are very senior and very qualified. Everyone has a huge pool of knowledge that they are ready to share with the students. The course is evolving and becoming more industry-ready with each integration, like the involvement of CADM as a course to give opportunities to those who wish to get into design-related fields. The exams are not really difficult, but they are not graded leniently.

Visvesvaraya NIT College review.
Placements: About 80% of students managed to get placed. The highest salary package on the table is around 13 LPA, while the lowest sits at about 5 LPA. Most of the recruitment action comes from companies like ZS, JSW, Jindal Steel, Birla, and Varroc. Unfortunately, only a handful of students snagged internships at our college. Most have to venture out and search for opportunities elsewhere. The top job roles being offered usually include positions like consultant and view engineer.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is practical, with good facilities both for sports and academics. You can always use a LAN port for an unlimited public Ethernet connection.
Faculty: The teachers are very well-qualified and are of a lot of help. The teaching method is of very high quality. The training program is very relevant and it definitely prepares students for the industry. Semester exams are at a medium level of difficulty. However, the pass percentage is dependent on the average score of the class, which is 50%.

VNIT (Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology), Nagpur offers 9 Undergraduate and 24 post graduate programs. Admissions are done through JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority)/ CASB (Central Seat Allocation Board) and DASA/ SII/ ICCR for undergraduate courses and through CCMN/ CCMT (Centralized Counseling) for post graduate courses. For admissions, candidates are required to register on the official website of the college. Click on new registration and fill in the required details along with all the required documents. Yes, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur offers a five-year full-time BArch programme spread over 10 semesters. BArch admission at VNIT Nagpur starts usually in the month of December with the beginning of JEE Main applications.

Q:   How is the infrastructure of VNIT Nagpur?
A: 

VNIT Nagpur campus is spread in 215 acres of area. Below-mentioned are the campus facilities: 

  • Hostel: The institute has 11 hostel. It has seperate hostel for boys and girls. The institute has excellent residential facilities to cater to the needs of more than a thousand students. There are seven boys hostels and four girls hostels. Each hostel has a telephone, TV, sports items, water coolers, water heaters, and well-equipped mess facilities.
  • Library: The VNIT Library has book and journal collections that have been built up over time in a systematic manner.
  • Sports: Various sports activities are carried out in the VNIT Nagpur sports complex, such as cricket, football, basketball, kabaddi, kho, lawn tennis, and badminton. There is one hall for yoga and one hall for cardio fitness.

The institute offers a gymkhana as well as courts for cricket, football, badminton, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. On campus, there is also an NCC branch. A medical centre and an auditorium are also included.

Q:   What is the last date to apply for the GATE 2024 exam?
A: 

The last date for the GATE 2024 registration was October 20 with late fees. The last date for GATE 2024 registration without late fees was October 12. GATE 2024 application form was available online on the IISc Bangalore official website. GATE 2024 registration link is gate2024.iisc.ac.in. The registration window opened on August 30, 2023. Candidates can apply for the GATE exam until the last date. Before filling out the GATE application form, it is advisable for the candidates to check the eligibility criteria. In case a candidate fails to fulfill any of the GATE exam eligibility conditions, then his or her candidature will be cancelled and he or she will not be able to download his or her GATE admit card for 2024. VNIT Nagpur is not that costly. The course fee for Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology's flagship BTech programme is around INR 5 lakh. The fees also depends on the specialisation selected by the student.

What is the placement rate recorded during VNIT Nagpur placements?
