Aadhar enrollment number is a unique number which students can find in the acknowledgement receipt received at the time of applying for Aadhar. Students should know that Aadhar enrollment number is not same as Aadhar number. At the time of filling JEE Main application form, candidates have to fill Aadhar Enrollment number and not Aadhar number.

The filling of the JEE Main Application Form 2024 is a four-step process. Important Guidelines for Images and Documents

  • A colour or black and white photo should be used. The candidates are allowed to have spectacles in the photograph. Whereas, sunglasses and caps are not allowed.
  • Unclear photos will not be accepted. The photo uploaded should be clear and adhere to the recommended file size, and format as per the guidelines provided by NTA.
  • Signature should be clearly done on white paper. The size and format of the signature uploaded should be as per guidelines.

Q:   Is JEE Main syllabus similar to the syllabus of and CBSE/other state boards of class 11 and 12?

The syllabus of JEE Main is similar to class 11 and 12. However, some topics may be extra in JEE Main. Syllabus which are not covered in class 11 or 12. Students preparing for the JEE Main exam need to study as per the official syllabus which is released by the NTA. Also, students can follow NCERT textbooks as the base for studying the syllabus of JEE Main.

Q:   What type of questions are asked in JEE Main?

A:
The JEE Main question paper will have questions from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics as per the prescribed syllabus. Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any 05 (five) questions out of 10. There will be negative marking for both Section A and Section B. For each question in Section B.A. Candidate has to enter the correct integer value of the answer using the mouse and the on-screen virtual numeric keypad in the place designated to enter the answer. For Section B, the answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.

Q:   Do I need to fill up separate application forms for each session of JEE Main 2024?

A:

Yes, Candidates who wish to appear in all the sessions of JEE Main 2024 need to fill application form separately for all sessions. However, the JEE Main registration need to be done only once. Candidates who applies for the first session of JEE Mains 2024 can use their login credentials while applying for the second session. During the second session application filling, candidates only need to enter details of paper for which appearing, exam centre preference and pay the application fees. Other details related to education, address, parents details documents uploaded are taken from the first session application process.

Q:   Can I fill JEE Main application form 2024 offline?

A:

No, JEE Main application form can only be filled online. The application form of JEE Main is released only in online mode on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in. There is no option of filling the application form in offline mode. Candidates who do not have a laptop/personal computer can visit the computer centre/common service centres to fill the application form. While filling the JEE Main 2024 application form, candidates will also have to upload scanned image of their photo and signature. Candidates belonging to reserved category (Gen-EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL) also need to upload the category certificate.

Q:   What is JEE Main Eligibility marks in class 12th?

A:

NTA JEE Main eligibility criteria for candidates to appear in the exam is

  • There is no minimum or maximum percentage required to appear in JEE Main. However, candidate need to have 75% marks in class 12 in addition to a valid JEE Main rank in order to get admission in NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs.  
  • Candidate must have passed class 12 in 2022, 2023 or appearing in 2024
  • Candidate must have Maths and Physics as a compulsory subejct in class 12 for Paper 1 (BTech)
  • For Paper 2A (BArch), it is compulsory to have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in class 12 and for Paper 2B (BPlan), candidate must have Mathematics in class 12

What's New in JEE Main 2024 Registration Process

NTA has introduced a few changes in the application process for JEE Main 2024. Check out the new changes:

  • Candidate needs to select any one of the following to register for JEE (Main):
    • To log in/create a Digi locker account through the NAD portal. Or;
    • To log in/create an Academic Bank of Credits ID (ABC ID) through the ABC ID. Or;
    • To log in using an Indian Indian Passport Number. Or;
    • To log in using a Non-Indian Passport Number. Or;
    • To log in using a PAN Card Number. Or;
    • To log in using an Aadhaar Enrollment Number. 
  • Candidate needs to select options for Authentication at the Examination Centre.
    • Authenticate through an Aadhaar Card
    • Authenticate through Valid Government ID with a Photograph

Note: The candidates are advised to register through Digi Locker/ABC ID. Those candidates who do not wish to register through the Digi Locker / ABC ID, need to report early (one hour prior to the entry time) at the examination Centre on the day of the examination. 

  • The choice of exam cities for the exam will be displayed to candidates based on the permanent and present address filled in during JEE Main registration.

  • After final submission, candidates will receive a copy of their filled application form in their email ID. Candidates can also download their forms from the UMANG app or DigiLocker.

Note: In case a candidate does not have a Gen-EWS/OBC-NCL/PwD/SC/ST certificate, they need to upload the "Self Declaration/Undertaking" in the specified format available in the information brochure.

Q:   What documents are required to fill JEE Main application form?

A:

The documents required to fill JEE Main application form are

  • Class 10 and Class 12 certificates (class 12 admit card in case appearing in the exam)
  • Aadhar card details
  • Scanned photograph and signature of the candidate for uploading

Q:   Can I upload black & White photo in JEE Main application form?

A:

Yes, candidates can upload black & white photograph in JEE Mains application form. There is no restriction on the type of photograph. The conditions that candidates need to fulfill for uploading the photograph are

  • Photograph should be in JPEG/JPG format
  • Dimention has to be 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm
  • Size has to be 10 KB to 200 KB

Also, the photograph should be clear with white background. The candidates are allowed to have spectacles in the photograph but sunglasses and caps are not allowed. JEE Main application form 2024 will be released in December.

Q:   What is the age limit to apply for JEE Main?

A:

As per the JEE Main eligibility criteria released by the NTA there is no maximum or minimum age to apply for JEE Main. Candidates of any age can apply and appear in the JEE Main exam. The only criteria which is applicable is that the candidate can appear in JEE Mains for three consecutive years from the year of passing class 12. For example, if a candidate is applying for JEE Main 2024, candidate must have passed class 12 in 2022, 2023 or appearing in 2024.

It is very important that candidates fulfill the conditions of eligibility before applying for JEE Mains exam 2024. Candidates fulfilling the below-mentioned eligibility conditions are eligible to fill the NTA JEE Main Application Form 2024

  • Candidates who have passed the Class 12 exam in 2022/2023 or who are appearing in 2024.
  • No age limit.
  • For Paper 1 (BE/BTech), candidates must have Physics and Maths in Class 12 and any other subject from Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical vocational subject.

Q:   Can I apply for JEE Main 2024 if I have less than 75% marks in class 12?

A:

Candidates can apply for JEE Mains 2024 irrespective of their class 12 marks. It is to be understood that 75% marks is NOT mandatory to appear in JEE Main. As per the official brochure released by the NTA there is no minimum percentage required for appearing in the JEE Main. The requirement of 75 percent marks need not be associated with JEE Main. It is to be understood that 75 percent marks is required for admission to institutes which include NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and IITs. There are many institutes which offer admission on 60% and even less along with JEE Main. Candidates must clearly understand that the requirement of 75 percent marks in class 12 is only for taking admission in the institutes.

Q:   Can a commerce/non-science student apply for JEE Mains?

A:

Candidates applying for JEE Main need to fulfill the following subject combination

  • For Paper 1 (BE/BTech), candidates must have Physics and Maths in Class 12 and any one subject from Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical vocational subject.
  • For Paper 2A (BArch), candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, and Maths in Class 12.
  • For Paper 2B (BPlan), candidates must have Maths in Class 12.

Q:   What is JEE Main application fee?

A:

The application fees for JEE Main is

  • INR 1,000 (Male unreserved/OBC/EWS category)

Candidates have the option of paying the application fee online through credit/debit card and internet banking. The given steps can be followed to fill JEE Main 2024 application form. Candidates are advised to fill in all the details in the application carefully and not make any mistakes.

Step 1- Registration: In the first step, candidates must complete the JEE Main 2024 registration process at jeemain.nta.nic.in. After clicking on ‘New Registration’, candidates will have to check the instructions and register by submitting the given details:

  • Personal Details – Name, Parent’s Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Identity Type, Identification Number.
  • Present Address
  • Permanent Address

A strong password has to be generated by candidates. After confirming all of the provided details, the JEE Main 2024 application number will be generated and displayed on the screen. The application number has to be kept safe since it will be required during the entire admission process.

Step 2- Filling of Application Form: Next, candidates will have to select their nationality, category, session of exam applying for, question paper medium and choice of test cities. Issues with uploading documents

  • Issues with uploading documents and scanned copies of photographs/signatures are the most common problems many students encounter when completing the JEE Main 2024 application.
  • The most common reason for these issues is that the images to be uploaded do not adhere to NTA standards.
  • The issue can be quickly fixed by resizing the image according to the NTA specifications.
  • The images can be resized using one of the many online tools available.

Issues with Application Fee Payment

  • If the money has been deducted, but the payment status still indicates that payment has not been made, candidates must wait 24 hours before retrying. JEE Mains image correction in application form 2024 was open from January 4 to 6. NTA had sent email/messages to candidates who have uploaded incorrect images while filling the JEE Mains 2024 application form. All such candidates hadd to upload fresh/new image as per the specification set by NTA. 

JEE Main application correction was started on December 6. The JEE Mains correction window 2024 official website is jeemain.nta.ac.in. Candidates were allowed to make corrections up to December 8. Candidates who wish to make any changes to their filled form have to use JEE Main correction window 2024 to modify the details. Candidates must note that the correction facility is provided only once so they had to modify the details carefully within JEE Main 2024 correction date.

To use the JEE Main 2024 application form correction facility, candidates have to log in to the website using their application form number and password after which they have to select the information that needs to be modified. All the modifications have to be done carefully as the information once changed can not be reverted. Candidates must note that only certain fields can be edited during the correction period. It will be a one-time facility open that allows candidates to make changes to their forms.

How to Make Corrections in JEE Main 2024 Application Form

  • Open the JEE Main official website jeemain.nta.ac.in
  • Click on the JEE Main 2024 Correction window link
  • Login using your application number and password
  • JEE Main application form 2024 will be displayed on the screen
  • Select the information that needs to be edited and make the required changes
  • Click on the Save button

After making all the changes, candidates were advised to download and take a printout of their JEE Mains form 2024.

Can I fill another application form in case of mistakes in the first form

Candidates are advised not to fill out more than one application form. If any candidate fills multiple application forms, NTA could cancel the forms and his/her candidature can be rejected. It is thus strongly advised to fill out only one application form.

Q:   When will NTA start JEE Main application correction facility?

A:

JEE Main form correction window has started on December 6 on the official website. The facility to make correction is available up to December 8. During the correction window, candidates are allowed to change/modify details filled in their application form. Candidates must note that not all fields in the application form will be open for correction. Only certain information like category, address of correspodance/permanent address, exam city preference, paper choice, photo, signature etc. can be modified. Candidates might also be required to pay additional fees for making corrections in certain fields. 

 

Q:   Is there any fee for making corrections in JEE Main Application form 2024?

A:

No, candidates need not pay any fees for making corrections in JEE Main application form. However, if any candidate changes his/her category from SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD to underserved category, they need to pay the difference in application fees. Fo making any other changes, candidates don't have to pay any fees. JEE Main correction window is active from December 6 to 8.

 

JEE Main 2024 Exam Centre

The National Testing Agency (NTA), the examination conducting authority assigns the JEE Main 2024 exam cities and test centres to candidates based on the preferences filled by the candidates in the application form. NTA will conduct the exam in around 290 cities in India and 25 cities outside India. Candidates can choose from a list of JEE Main 2024 exam centres given by NTA. It is advised that the candidate choose a centre that is most close to their home. JEE Main exam centres are located in India and abroad. Information on the exam centre, examination timings, and other guidelines to be followed on examination day are included in the JEE Main admit card 2024.

Q:   I have mistakenly filled the wrong category in my JEE Main application form. Will my form be rejected?

A:

Candidates who mistakenly fill any details wrong can modify/correct the details during JEE Main application correction facility. NTA allows the candidate to make corrections after the last date of application process. To make corrections, candidates need to login on the JEE Main official website during the specified dates and  modify the details. In case candidate has entered wrong category, he/she may need to apy the application fee as per the new category. Other details like photo, signature, exam centre preference, paper choice, address can also be changed during the correction window.   

Q:   How can I check my status of JEE Main application form?

A:

When the application form is completely filled and submitted with fee payment, candidates receive the confirmation mail in their email address registered at the time of filling the form. Candidates can also check the status of their JEE Main application form by login to the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. After login, the status of the application form will show "Application Submitted" if the form has been accepted by the NTA. In case the application form is incomplete, the status message will show the step to be completed to submit the application form.
