What is SAT Exam?

The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is an entrance exam that students in 11th and 12th standard typically take to evaluate their readiness to provide evidence of academic skills necessary for college entrance abroad. Students from India must take the SAT to apply for undergraduate college and universities in Canada, USA, UK, Italy and others. This provides colleges with a means to assess students' academic skills against those of students applying to similar programs, competing for the same college admission.

The SAT, as an exam, is typically administered in an online format and consists of multiple-choice questions. It is taken on the Bluebook App and can be taken on a computer, laptop or iPad in India. The SAT has two sections: Reading + Writing and Math. Each section has a score of 800 which gives a maximum score of 1600. Many colleges and universities require or highly recommend students to submit SAT scores with their admissions application

SAT Digital Exam Pattern & Structure 2025

The latest SAT exam pattern for 2025 includes testing on two main sections: Reading and Writing (RW) and the Maths section. The RW section tests 54 questions in 64 minutes, while the Maths section has 44 questions to be attempted in 70 minutes. Overall, there are 98 questions on SAT timed for 2 hours and 14 minutes. Each section is scored equally, totalling 1600, that is 800 per section.

NOTE: During the exam, there is an additional 10-minute break between the two sections.

Here's a brief of the SAT exam pattern for your reference:

SAT Exam Sections Time Allocated Number of Questions
Reading and Writing (RW) 64 minutes: divided into two 32-minute modules 54 questions
Math 70 minutes: divided into two 35-minute modules 44 questions
Total 134 minutes: 2 hours 14 minutes 98 questions

Apart from this, scholarships are available on the official website of every college, along with other fellowships and grants awarded to deserving students regularly.
