Percentage to CGPA Formula

A student's percentage score reflects their performance compared to the maximum possible score. For example, a score of 85 out of 100 represents an 85% level of achievement. The most commonly used formula to calculate CGPA from a percentage is:

Percentage to CGPA Formula

CGPA = Percentage ÷ 9.5

  • Note that the above formula is based on the principle that a 95% score typically equates to a perfect 10 CGPA, and so the CGPA calculated from this formula will be on a 10-point scale. This formula is used in most of the percentage to CGPA converters, such as those of CBSE, engineering, and UP board.
  • The number "9.5" is used as a common divisor in all the percentage to CGPA conversion formulas as it is a common factor to approximate the equivalent CGPA on a 10-point scale.
