If you are planning to study abroad and are concerned about high costs, scholarships can significantly ease your financial burden. One excellent option is the IELTS Scholarship. If you are an Indian student preparing for international studies in 2026, here are the key details regarding IELTS scholarships.

IELTS scholarship

For many Indian students, pursuing a study abroad program is a lifelong dream. However, financial constraints often pose a significant challenge. While the IELTS exam is the first step toward international education, many students are confused about the IELTS Scholarship (often referred to as the IDP IELTS Prize). This is a financial grant awarded to high-performing students. Please note that there has been no official announcement regarding the IDP IELTS Prize 2026 yet.

You must know one thing clearly. This IELTS Scholarship does not pay for your exam fee before the test. You cannot take the test for free. This money is only given after you get a good score to help with university tuition fees or living costs. To get this, Indian students need a good IELTS score (usually 6.0 plus) from IDP and an offer letter from a college in the UK, Canada, Australia, or USA.

Winning the IDP IELTS Prize is a great help for your pocket. It shows you are a good student. Competition is very high in India, so you must prepare hard for the IELTS test to get this chance.

Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions
Q:   How is the IELTS exam conducted?
A:

Here is the detailed mode of conduction for the IELTS examination . The examination is conducted both online and offline for the ease of students. They can choose whether they want to complete it online or offline. There is no difference in the questions, it is just the mode through which they prefer to answer.

For the computer based mode candidates are required to go to the examination centre, sit behind the computer screen and answer the questions. For the speaking section a trained IELTS examination trainer will ask them the questions. Results for the computer based test are available from 3 to 5 days after the examination.

For the pen and paper based examination, candidates will give the traditional method of question paper and answer booklet . The result for this mode of examination will take around 13 days.

Q:   How long does each section of the IELTS exam take?
A:

The Listening is 30 minutes. Reading and Writing are exactly 60 minutes each without any break. The Speaking is very fast, it takes only 11 to 14 minutes to finish.

Q:   How much percentage is required in 12th for IELTS?
A:

IELTS IDP has not set any 12th score requirements for taking the IELTS. You can take the IELTS irrespective of the marks you scored in the 12th standard. So, one can attempt the IELTS exam without worrying about their class 12th score.

Q:   How many times can I appear for IELTS exam? In which month does this exam take place?
A:

Actually, there is no limit to appear for IELTS exam. You can re-take it as many times you want. But experts say, you should not take the test more than once in a period of two months. Also, you have to pay the fee everytime you take the test, which can be very expensive also. But if you are okay with paying the fee infinite times you can take the test unlimited number of times. Also, it does not make any sense taking the test again and again. After a maximum of 3 attempts, you should know that your scores are not going to change. So, try hard and give your best the first attempt.
