Dos and Don'ts on OET Test Day

Here are some exam day tips for OET exam:

  1. Take a sound sleep the night before the exam.
  2. Arrive at your test centre early.
  3. Keep necessary items ready (Documents, stationery, and water bottle).
  4. Do not bring your phone with you. If you are carrying it, keep it in the cloakroom at the centre.
  5. Listen to instructions carefully. If you missed anything do not hesitate to ask again.
  6. Do not carry Jewellery, Correction fluid or tape Bags, notes or study materials, dictionaries or thesauruses.
  7. Do not get stuck on a question. There is no negative marking so move ahead quickly.
  8. You need to inform the test centre ahead if you are facing any disabilities, so they can make arrangements.

The Night Before the OET Exam

A lot of times candidates imagine the test day tips are only limited to the day of the exam. However, it does not necessarily have to be so. Candidates are advised to consume a light dinner the evening before the day of the exam and sleep early to be able to get a good night's rest. No candidate wants to appear drowsy or unprepared for the test. Candidates are strictly advised against burning the midnight oil, on the night before the exam.

OET Test Day-stress

The day of the exam is perhaps the most important day for the candidate. All OET Preparations boil down to your performance on this day. Candidates should understand that OET is like any other exam and good preparation would yield favorable results. Hence, candidates are advised to not get anxious and suffer from anxiety on the day of the exam.

Candidates are advised to leave early and reach well before the reporting time to avoid any untoward circumstances. Candidates are reminded to carry their valid Indian Passport as identification proof and all other relevant documents pertaining to the exam. Candidates without the relevant documents would be turned away from the OET exam Centre thus canceling their OET Registration.

On Reaching OET Test Venue

Candidates on arrival at their OET Venue would be greeted by the venue staff and directed to the cloakroom. Where they would be required to keep their items and only carry articles that are allowed in the test venue. Candidates would be required to get their identification verified at the registration desk.







On successful completion of this procedure, candidates would be then led to the waiting area where they would be required to wait for their turn for the exam. This is a good time for the candidate to visit the washroom as the candidate would not be allowed to leave the exam during the first and last 10 minutes, and the candidate would not be given any extra time for breaks.

The OET Test

Candidates would be led into a room where they would be required to take the Listening Test followed by the Reading Test and Writing Test. After this, in the presence of an interlocutor, the candidate would have to appear for the speaking test which would be recorded. Candidates should remember to stick with the OET Test instructions and keep the time limit in mind. 

After The OET Test

Congratulations! You have successfully completed your OET Test. Once the candidate has finished his Speaking Test, he would be led to the cloakroom where he would be required to collect his belongings and leave the venue. Candidates can expect their OET results to be declared within 16 business days from the day of taking the exam.
