The full form of SGPA is Semester Grade Point Average. It is a measure of a student's academic performance during the semester. SGPA is commonly used in Indian universities and colleges. Students can easily calculate their SGPA score to understand their performance in a given semester.

How to calculate SGPA

SGPA or Semester Grade Point Average is a marking system popular in India. SGPA is just like a counterpart of CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average). To calculate SGPA score, divide the total number of grade points earned by the total number of hours enrolled in the course. To improve student's learning experience, some universities and colleges have started using SGPA to evaluate students' performance in courses. This allows them to assess how well they are doing and how much they need to improve their grades.

Calculating your SGPA is one of the most used methods of understanding your current academic performance. The Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) is calculated at the end of each academic session/semester to understand the progress of the candidate for that particular semester.

The Grade Point would indicate their knowledge of the demonstrated coursework. While a good grade indicates a good understanding of the subject a low grade point would indicate a poor understanding of the subject. Read: GPA Calculator
