As you have already mentioned that you are pursuing engineering from a private college, it is better to focus on engineering and complete it with outstanding performance. Don't let yourself deviate from the present task of graduation. It may manifest drawbacks in future. As far as govt. jobs are concerned you can prepare for it even after engineering.
