What is Film Making?

Film Making is a fine art which revolves around the process of conceptualising a story, scriptwriting, directing, shooting, sound recording, lighting, editing, production controlling and screening. The film is a media through which the director conveys his message to the mass. The filmmaker/ director must be a painter who draws his ideas on the canvas of the film. It is, however, an easy way to communicate with the mass. On the other hand, films or movies serve the purpose of entertainment and is very popular as an art form. Over the years, the process of film making has experienced upheaval changes, since technology has incorporated new improved tools like camera, digital printing machines etc. into film making. 

In the present scenario, many young talents are showing interest in film making. To learn the art of film making along with all its nuances and nitty-gritty, the pursuant would require to join a film making the course. In India, there are several film making institutes which conduct diploma and certificate courses on film making.

Eligibility Criteria to Learn Film Making

‘Film Making’ being a professional course, puts equal emphasis on theoretical knowledge and practical training both. Film Making Course Structure and Curriculum

Diploma in Film Making is a 2 years’ full-time undergraduate course. After, completing the undergraduate programme, the willing candidates can pursue a post-graduate Diploma in Film Making. The curriculum of the course has been designed to provide comprehensive knowledge in film making along with practical training. The students do project work, prepare and produce short films, join internship programmes while pursuing the course. They need to spend hours in the field to acquire expertise in film making. Job and Career Scope in Film Making Course

There are umpteen opportunities for the candidates who have pursued Film Making course. The world of the entertainment industry is ever-expanding and hence there is a huge demand for these professionals in the industry. Hence, the career prospect of film making is always bright and lucrative. After their course, the students can work as Camera Production Assistant, Motion Control Operator, Assistant Director, Assistant production Controller, Camera Operator and Camera Assistant etc initially. But with years they will accumulate experience and can work as:

  • Director of Photography

  • Director

However, the chief recruiters of these fields are Doordarshan, film studios, television studios, fashion studios, event management sectors, advertisement agencies and corporate house etc.

At the start of their careers, the candidates may earn Rs. 1-2 lakhs for different job positions. Their salary increases with years as they accumulate experience. In the senior position, they can earn up to Rs 7-8 lakhs annually. They may work as freelancers in later years, as they earn some experience and name in the related fields.
