Filmmaking is a fine art which revolves around the process of conceptualising a story, scriptwriting, directing, shooting, sound recording, lighting, editing, production controlling and screening. The film is a medium through which the director conveys his message to the masses. The filmmaker/ director is a painter who draws his ideas on the canvas of the film. It is, however, an easy way to communicate with the masses. On the other hand, films or movies serve the purpose of entertainment and are very popular as an art form. Over the years, the process of Filmmaking has experienced upheaval changes, since technology has incorporated new and improved tools like cameras, digital printing machines etc. into Filmmaking.
In the present scenario, many young talents are showing interest in Filmmaking. To learn the art of Filmmaking along with all its nuances and nitty-gritty, the pursuant would require to join a Filmmaking course. In India, there are several Filmmaking institutes which conduct diploma and certificate courses on Filmmaking.
Eligibility Criteria To Learn Filmmaking
‘Filmmaking’ being a professional course, puts equal emphasis on theoretical knowledge and practical training. While pursuing the course, the candidates receive hands-on training in all branches of Filmmaking, namely: photography, sound recording, lighting, editing, production controlling etc. In India, to pursue the diploma course in Filmmaking, the students must have to complete their 10+2 board examination. The admission to the Diploma in Filmmaking Course is granted based on an entrance exam or merit in the board examination. Some colleges interview students before granting admission. Filmmaking Course Structure and Curriculum
Diploma in Filmmaking is a two years’ full-time course. After completing the programme, the willing candidates can pursue a post-graduate Diploma in Filmmaking . The curriculum of the course has been designed to provide comprehensive knowledge of Filmmaking along with practical training. The students do project work, prepare and produce short films, and join internship programmes while pursuing the course. They need to spend hours in the field to acquire expertise in Filmmaking.
