Animation is a process in which a person creates the illusion of motion by rapidly displaying still images in a sequence such that they appear slightly different from each other. However, creating such illusions requires training from well-equipped animation schools. These schools not only equip the students with the necessary technical skills but also help in enhancing their creativity and imagination. Candidates can opt for any one of the various undergraduate level animation courses offered by animation schools. One of the popular UG course in animation is BSc in Animation. It is a 3-year course consisting of six semesters, which provide students with training in computer animation, filmmaking and various software programmes such as flash, photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Autodesk Maya etc. After completing BSc in Animation, candidates can either puruse MSc in Animation or can work for various job profiles in the industry. Eligibility Criteria for BSc in Animation

The eligibility criteria to pursue a BSc in Animation may vary from college to college. Generally, students who have cleared their 10+2 with passing marks in any stream (Science/Commerce/Arts) can pursue BSc in Animation. Some colleges also ask for minimum marks requirement for admission. Such colleges demand at least 50% marks in 12th. In such a situation, it is important for the candidates to check the eligibility criteria on the official website of the college. Also many popular colleges allow candidates to take part in their admission process only if they have completed their schooling from a recognised board.

Animator: Animators create animation using illustrations as well as software programmes. They plan, script and create animated narrative sequences. They also assist in formulating the background design and also work on production coordination.

Flash Animator: They work in close coordination with creative directors to make sure that the animation made compliments the design.

Stop Motion Animator: They create the end product by combining the art of photography, utilising narrative skills as well as the ability to manipulate light and thereafter calculate angles to create stop motion animations without manipulating it digitally.

Video Game Designer: They combine science, technology, engineering, mathematics, art, and design as well as animation skills in order to create realistic video games with adequate action. Video game designers design user interfaces and thereafter create storylines as well as characters followed by role-play mechanics along with gameplay prototypes.

There's no need for a game designer to draw well. Game designers design game mechanics, UI, AI behaviors, level layouts, balance, economy, and the like. They may need to draw some schemes to explain their ideas in a more visual way, but typically they don't need to draw well.
