Q:   Can I do M.Tech without giving GATE entrance exam?

A:

In India, the most common and widely accepted way to pursue a Master of Technology (MTech) degree is by qualifying for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). GATE is an entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). However, it is possible to pursue an M.Tech without a GATE score in certain circumstances. Here are a few alternative routes you can consider:

  • Some universities and institutes conduct their own entrance exams for admission to their M.Tech programmes.
  • Some universities and colleges reserve a limited number of seats for sponsored candidates.
  • Certain universities and institutes offer direct admission to M.Tech programs for candidates with exceptional academic records.
