Information Design involves presenting information in an effective and efficient manner. The main task of an Information Designer is to present information in such a way that the users are easily able to understand it. Information Design is a multi-dimensional programme that involves different elements which include design, computer science, visual aesthetics, statistics as well as humanities.

Candidates can pursue Information Design at the undergraduate (UG) as well as the postgraduate (PG) level. Most UG level courses offered in the field of Information Design are of four years duration whereas the duration of PG level courses range from two years to two and a half years. Apart from degree courses aspirants can also pursue certificate courses in Information Design.

In most colleges Information Design is offered as a part of Communication Design course. The most popular UG course in Information Design is Bachelor of Design (BDes) in Information Design and similarly Master of Design (MDes) in Information Design is the most popular PG level course.

Candidates who want to make a career in the field of Information design need to be creative as well as possess the knowledge of the required softwares. In order to become an information designer, aspirants should possess the below mentioned skillset:

Information Design Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants can pursue a UG level course in Information Design if they have completed their Class 12 from a recognised board. Many colleges state an additional eligibility criteria which state that aspirants need to secure at least 50% aggregate marks at 10+2 level in order to be eligible to apply for an Information Design course.

On the other hand, to secure admission in a PG level Information Design course, candidates should have completed their graduation from a recognised college/ institute. Most colleges prefer design graduates to apply for Information Design course offered at the PG level.
