RRB JE objections fee refund link 2022 will be activated on March 7. RRBs will refund the fee taken for the objections against the doubtful/incorrect questions in the Computer-Based Test (CBT)-1 and CBT-2. The candidates were charged INR 50 for each of the objections. RRB will refund the fee to the candidates whose objections were found valid by the board. The candidates can apply for a refund at https://www.recruitapp.in/rrbje_obj_refund/. The candidates will be required to fill in some details as shown in the notice. The last date to apply for a fees refund is March 21. 

What is RRB JE Recruitment?

RRB JE recruitment is a recruitment exercise meant to recruit the Junior Engineer (JE), Junior Engineer (Information Technology) Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) in various Departments of Railways. 

About RRBs

Railway Recruitment Boards were created initially with the name of service commissions and were created at different dates. Later in 1985, the Railway Services Commissions were renamed and restructured as the Railway Recruitment Boards. In the year 1998, all the RRBs came under the umbrella organisation Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRCB), which directly works under the Ministry of Railway (Railway Board).
RRBs are responsible for the recruitment of personnel at various positions. They coordinate, recruit through a centralised recruitment advertisement and conduct online computer-based test (CBT) across the nation.

RRB JE Recruitment Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the RRB JE recruitment is defined based on Nationality, Age and Educational Qualification. The candidates who fulfil all the eligibility conditions are supposed to fill out the application form because, in the absence of that, the candidature of the candidate will be liable to cancel at the advance stage of examination. All the original documents will be verified at the stage of document verification and in absence of any required document, the candidate will lose his candidature. Candidates waiting for the final results of the prescribed educational qualifications should not apply.

Nationality

(i) A candidate must be either:
a. a citizen of India, or
b. a subject of Nepal, or
c. a subject of Bhutan, or
d. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
e. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. The person may be selected and recommended but the appointment letter will be issued to him only after he gets such a certificate from the Government of India.

Age Limit

The lower age limit for the RRB JE exam is 18 and the upper age limit is 33 years. The age relaxation is provided to the reserved categories as follows:

The lower and upper age limit indicated for a particular post(s) in the vacancy table will be reckoned as on January 1, 2022. If a candidate is eligible for a relaxation of age on more than one ground, he/she would be accorded the highest of the age re-laxations for which he/she is eligible

The candidates need to fulfil the educational criteria given in the official notification to appear in the RRB JE recruitment exam. The RRB JE exam is divided into 5 sub-groups to define the educational criteria, syllabus and other events. The subgroups and their educational qualification is defined as follows:

RRB JE 2022 Vacancies

It is expected that the RRB JE 2022 vacancies will be higher than in the past years because of the expansion of railways across the nation. RRB JE recruitment 2019 notification mentioned 13,487 vacancies, but later with a notice, 74 vacancies were also added to the RRB JE 2019 and the total number of vacancies became 13,561. The post-wise vacancies for RRB JE 2019 are as follows:

RRB JE notification advertises the vacancies for each of the posts separately.

RRB JE 2022 Application

RRB JE application is the first step to enter the recruitment process of the exam. The RRBs issue centralised notification and invites application from the candidates for the nearest RRB. Later the RRBs also issues the Application status of the candidates. Application status is issued so that the candidates can confirm the acceptance of their application for the RRB JE exam. 

Respective RRBs had released the RRB JE application status related to their acceptance and rejection for the Computer-based test (CBT) on March 26, 2019. The application status were released after the scrutiny process of applications were complete. The candidates were given reasons for the rejection of their application. The status checking window was opened till March 31, 2019.

RRB JE Recruitment Process

RRB JE exam is conducted in four stages starting from Stage I Computer Based Test( CBT) to the Medical test. The selection process has the following steps:

Filling up the Application Form

The RRB JE Recruitment application will be invited from the candidates after the notification. The candidates are given a time period of 25 to 30 days to fill the application form online. For the RRB JE 2019, the application fees was Rs.500 for the unreserved category and Rs.250 for the SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / PwBDs / Female / Transgender / Minorities / Economically backward class.

It was also mentioned that this examination fee will be refunded fully to the reserved category candidates when they appear in the CBT-1 exam. The unreserved category candidates will receive INR.400 back in their account on appearing in the CBT-1.

The candidates were allowed to modify their application form twice only. For each modification in the RRB JE application form, the candidates were required to pay a fee INR .100.

Issue of RRB JE CBT -1 Admit Card

The RRB JE admit card is released for each stage of the exam separately and the candidates are required to download the admit card and present it at the exam centre. The other government ID proofs are also required with the adit card and can be asked at the time of exam by the competent authority.

The RRB JE admit card is released to all the candidates whose applications were accepted by the respective RRBs. The admit card for the RRB JE CBT-1 will be issued 4 days before the CBT-1 exam. 

RRB JE CBT -1 Exam

RRB JE CBT-1 exam is the first stage of the selection process. It is a computer-based test conducted to filter out the candidates for CBT-2. The CBT-1 is an online objective type test and the duration of this test is 90 Minutes. There will be 100 questions in the CBT-1 and each question was of 1 mark. There will be a negative marking of 1/3 in the RRB JE CBT-1. The score of CBT-1 will be decided after the normalisation of marks done in the manner defined in the RRB JE Notification.

Manner of Normalisation in RRB JE Recruitment

CBT exam is conducted in multiple sessions for the same syllabus and each session will have a different question paper. The raw marks obtained by the candidates are converted into normalised marks to give them all a level playing field. The raw marks for the single session paper and normalized marks for the multi-session paper were used for computing the Merit Index, which is a common benchmark for generating merit for candidates from different exam groups.

Normalisation Formula for RRB JE Recruitment

For the multisession papers, a suitable normalization is applied to take into account any variation in the difficulty levels of the question papers across different sessions.

Calculation of marks was made up to 5 decimal points.
The merit of the CBT-1 is calculated based on these normalised scores of the candidates.

RRB JE Result for CBT-1 will be declared based on the normalised marks. 

RRB JE CBT-2 Exam

The RRB JE CBT-2 exam is the second of the four stages of the recruitment process. This is a crucial and decisive stage for the final selection. The RRB JE CBT-2 is also an objective type test having 150 questions and a time duration of 120 minutes. There was a negative marking of 1/3 in the RRB JE CBT-2 also.

RRB JE Result for CBT-2

There will be normalisation of marks obtained by the candidates in the RRB JE CBT-2 exam. The RRB JE Result for CBT-2 marks the completion of RRB JE Stage 2. In addition to above, extra candidates will also be called for the document verification to maintain a standby list of 50% as given in the official notification.

RRB JE Document Verification (DV)

This is the penultimate stage of the RRB JE Recruitment process. All the candidates qualified in the RRB JE CBT-2 will be called for their original document verification. The original document of the candidates is verified in accordance with the claims made in the RRB JE online application form. In case of any discrepancy found during the DV Stage, the candidature of the candidate stands cancelled.

RRB JE Medical Examination

After the Document verification stage, the qualified candidates need to qualify for the medical test as per the given medical standards for each exam group in the official notification. The Medical examination is conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure the medical fitness of the qualified candidates.

Candidates who have undergone Lasik surgery or any other surgery procedure to correct refractory error are not eligible for the post having Medical Standards A3, B1 and B2. Different Medical standards shall apply to Ex-Servicemen.
After successfully qualifying the medical examination, the candidates are recommended to the service by declaring the final result and issuing them the appointment letter.

A: No, the candidates waiting for the final result of the prescribed educational qualification cannot apply in the RRB JE Exam. The candidate must possess the essential qualification before the closing of the RRB JE application.

Q: Is there is any normalisation of marks?

A. Yes, normalisation of marks is done to provide a level playing field to all the candidates appearing in the multiple shifts in the CBTs. Normalisation is explained in detail in the RRB JE notification in Para 14.2.

Q: What will be the cut off of the RRB JE exam?

A: RRB JE Cut off marks are the minimum marks required to qualify the exam stage and become eligible for the next stage of the exam process. The RRB JE cut off marks depend on the three factors
  1. Number of vacancies
  2. Number of applicants
  3. The difficulty level of question papers
The RRB JE cut off is arrived at by the interplay of the above-mentioned factors for each stage of the RRB Exam.

Q: Is there any interview for RRB JE?

A: There is no Interview in the RRB JE Exam. RRB JE recruitment process was explained in its official notification. Interview/oral test/personality test/group discussion is not mentioned in the official notification.
