What is B.Sc. in Humanities & Social Sciences?
A BSc is a Bachelor of Science (BSc) which students generally take up after their Class 12. Students who did their Class 12 in Science stream, will generally take up the subjects they have studied such as Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, English or even Computer Applications. It is highly unlikely for a Science student to opt for a BCom course or BBA, simply because they have not studied the subjects in their Class 12. However, here’s where Liberal Arts come into play. Liberal Arts allows students to mix disciplines and programmes, where students are taught multi-disciplines in a programme and can opt to take up different courses at a time and pursue them, based on their skills, knowledge and interest.
There are various Universities and colleges which teach subjects from Humanities which have a scientific appeal. Students can apply Science in fields such as Philosophy, Economics, Psychology, Geography and much more. Various fields in Humanities and Social Sciences have a scientific appeal and require scientific theories and research work. For example, Psychology is a vast subject which has different sub-branches and sub-topics. Psychology may be a field from Humanities and Social Sciences, however, there is also applied sciences in Psychology and has fields such as Clinical Psychology, Neuro Psychology, Biological Psychology and much more.
Event for Geography, students learn about Human Geography, which caters more towards the Humanities side and there is Physical Geography, which leans towards the Science aspects as students learn about the atmosphere, the core, the environment and much more.
