What is Rural Studies?
The study of Rural Management and work related to rural areas and working towards the development of society is known as Rural Studies. There are various aspects which are covered in Rural Studies which concentrates in backward and impoverished areas which are deprived of the luxury that developed and modern societies live in. Through Rural Studies, students are taught to focus on areas such as health, education, women empowerment, dairy development, disaster management, agriculture, rural marketing and more.
More than 50% of India’s population live in rural areas where people do not have access to various facilities and have a hard time surviving and providing for a family. The introduction of Rural Studies is to train professionals to ensure that there is development in rural areas and the less fortuned people can have access to daily needs and requirements.

Rural Studies Eligibility Criteria
Students need to meet the set eligibility criteria which differ from University to University. The eligibility criteria is as follows:

| The candidate needs to have done their Class 12 in any stream from a recognised board and should have secured a minimum of 45%. |

| The candidate should have done their graduation in any discipline from a recognised university and should have secured a minimum of 55%. |

| The candidate should have done their MA in Rural Studies or MSW from a recognised university and should have secured a minimum of 55%. |
|
| The candidate should have done their MA or MPhil or MSW from a recognised university and should have secured a minimum of 60%. |
Religious Studies Admission Procedure
Chose University/College: The first step one is to search for colleges or universities which are offering courses in Rural Studies or similar subjects. Check the fees, the seats offered, eligibility criteria which is set for the course.
Apply for Course: Proceed to apply for admission after getting to know the university offering the programme. Fill up the details as required and pay the application fee. The application forms are available for a limited period of time so the candidate is advised to know the details way in advance.
Mode of Admission: Universities and Colleges will either conduct entrance exams for admission or offer admission through merit. For postgraduate courses/MPhil and PhD, the candidate will have to appear for an entrance exam.
Results: Selected and qualified candidates make the merit list. The student has to get the desired rank and percentage, to be eligible for admission.
Counselling: The candidate will have to appear for the counselling session conducted at the university to book their seat, submit their documents and pay the fees to seal admission.
