Theatre is a type of performing art which is generally performed live and used to express real-life or fictional events or stories in front of an audience. Theatre has been a part of various cultural and social life of people since time immemorial. It is one of the oldest form of performing arts after painting and dance. Theatre is offered as a course in various colleges either in undergraduate or postgraduate level. Some colleges and institutes also offer certificate and diploma courses in theatre and theatre direction. 

Why Pursue Theatre

Theatre as a professional course is very different from the traditional forms of theatre that is in practise since time immemorial. One of the major reasons for it is the technicality of this course, which prepares candidates not only for the acting but also theatre direction and stage preparation. It is offered as Bachelor or Master of Performing Arts in Theatre. Eligibility Criteria to pursue Theatre Course

To establish a career in the field of performing art form theatre, candidates are required to meet certain eligibility criteria. Before applying for the course, candidates are required to check the below mentioned eligibility criteria required to pursue the theatre course. 

UG Courses: Candidates willing to pursue theatre courses at UG level should have passed their 10+2 exam or equivalent from any recognized board or institute.

PG Courses: Candidates aspiring to pursue theatre course at PG level are required to have qualified BPA or BA or BSc or BCom with a minimum passing marks of 40%.

Along with it, candidates should have at least two years of stage experience. Some colleges also conduct entrance examination for admission to theatre courses at PG level.
