AILET 2023 Exam - The application process of AILET 2023 is open now.. The National Law University, Delhi released the application form on September 7, and candidates can apply on the official website - nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. The last date of application for AILET 2023 is November 15, 2022. Candidates should check the eligibility criteria of AILET 2023 for their respective course i.e. BA LLB, LLM, or PhD before filling up the application form. The admission notification for AILET 2023 was released on September 2. The law entrance exam for NLU Delhi BA LLB and LLM admissions 2023 will be held on December 11, 2022. AILET 2023 application form will be available from September 7 onwards. AILET 2023 notification, application link and exam dates has been published on the official website. . What's New in AILET?

From AILET 2022 onwards, NLU Delhi has removed two sections from AILET exam pattern i.e. Elementary Mathematics and Legal Aptitude. Therefore, the AILET question paper will be based on three subjects - English Language, Logical Reasoning, and Current Affairs and General Knowlege. The sectional weightage for AILET exam has changed as well.

What is AILET?

All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is conducted by National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) for admission undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and doctorate (PhD) level law courses. This is a national-level entrance exam conducted for admission in law programmes at NLU Delhi only. The exam is held in a pen-paper based test from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. 

Note: No other entrance exam is accepted for NLU Delhi admissions.

AILET Eligibility Criteria 2023

NLU Delhi will shortlist only eligible candidates, therefore, those seeking admission at NLU Delhi through AILET must check the eligibility criteria as mentioned below:

  • 10+2 or equivalent examination with minimum 45% aggregate marks (40% in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities)
  • Candidates appearing for their 10+2 exam may also apply

LLM

  • LLB or equivalent degree with minimum 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities)
  • Candidates appearing for their final year LLB examination are also eligible to apply 

PhD

  • LL.M. or an equivalent law degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disabilities).

AILET Admission Process 2023

The admission process of NLU Delhi through AILET exam includes the following steps:

Step 1: Online Registration

Candidates need to register online on the official website of NLU Delhi - https://nludelhi.ac.in and fill all the required details in the application form, upload prescribed documents and pay exam fee. The application form for AILET can be submitted in online mode only.  

Step 2: AILET Admit Card

NLU Delhi issues admit cards to candidates who successfully register for the exam. Candidates have to carry the AILET admit card on exam day. Any candidate carrying the admit card is not allowed to appear for the exam. 

Step 3: AILET Exam - Candidates have to appear for AILET at the allotted test centre as mentioned on the admit card. They should report at the test centres at least an hour before the examination. 

Step 4: Result Declaration - NLU Delhi usually announces AILET results within a month after conducting the examination. The scorecards of candidates qualifying the examination mention their All India Ranks (AIRs), sectional scores as well as overall scores. 

Step 5: Counselling - The university conducts AILET counselling on the basis of the rank list released at the time of result. In the counselling session, qualifying candidates are allotted seats in their respective law courses based on merit. 

AILET Exam Pattern 2023 (Updated)

In 2022, the exam pattern and syllabus of AILET 2023 were modified for the BA LLB and LLM programs. The AILET question paper for BA LLB (Hons) now have three sections as the Mathematics and Legal Reasoning subjects have been removed. This impacted the sectional-weightage but the overall scores remains the same. Now, the Logical Reasoning section with 70 marks carries the maximum weightage, followed by the English Language with 50 marks, and Current Affairs & GL section with 30 marks.

The BA LLB pape contains a total of 150 multiple-choice questions (carrying 1 mark per questions). Candidates must refer to the updated AILET syllabus 2023 to prepare for the exam.

AILET Exam Day Guidelines 2023

On the day of the exam, it is important for candidates to adhere to some guidelines so that they do not have to go through any hassle at the last minute. Check out some important AILET 2022 exam day guidelines below.

Important AILET documents & items

Candidates must ensure that they are carrying the below-mentioned documents and things to the allotted AILET exam centre:

  • Admit card
  • Valid and original photo ID proof such as PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence, Passport, etc. 
  • Passport-size photo (preferably the one used in AILET application form)
  • Black/blue ball point pen
  • Hand sanitiser
  • Transparent water bottle
  • Face mask

While it is important to carry the aforementioned documents and items, candidates must also keep in mind not to carry the below-mentioned things inside the test centre:

  • Books or any other study material
  • Any electronic device such as calculator or smart watch

Reporting time

Candidates must reach the allotted AILET centre at least one hour before the commencement of the exam. While at the centre, candidates must follow all social distancing guidelines and also adhere to what the exam centre authorities instruct.
