What is Communication Studies?
Communication studies deals with the process of human communication and behaviour, patterns of communication in inter and intrapersonal skills, social interactions in different cultures. From waving our hand so say ‘Hello’ to a smile, human movements and patterns give out signals and indication as a form of communication. From gestures to exchanging ideas to signals or messages through any form of medium, is known as Communication Studies. Right from the time man walked the earth, there is always a way of communicating with humans. From drawings on the walls to now sending a text message on our phones, the structure of communication has come a long way.
Communication Studies is applied in various fields such as Journalism, Mass Communication, Mass Media, Public Relations, Marketing, Public Administration, Education and much more. As humans have developed in terms of the language we speak to communicate to the modes of how to disseminate across a message to others, communication studies has gradually expanded its focus on other domains such as Health, Medicine, and Economy to now the internet.
From using qualitative and quantitative methods to critical theory, the history of communication is quite fascinating to study. The main aim of the course is to introduce as many as sub-fields there is to communication studies to students developing knowledge on globalized and digitized dynamics of contemporary education.

Communication Studies Admission Process
Chose University/College: The first step is to search for colleges or universities which are offering courses in communication studies or similar subjects of your interest. Check the fees, the seats offered, eligibility criteria which is set for the course.
Apply for Course: Apply for admission if the university is offering a suitable programme. Fill up the details as required and pay the application fee. The application forms are available for a limited period of time so the candidate is advised to know the details way in advance.
Mode of Admission: Universities and Colleges will either conduct entrance exams for admission or offer admission through merit. For postgraduate courses, the candidate will have to appear for an entrance exam.
Results: Qualified candidates who make the merit list will be offered admission. The student has to get the desired rank and percentage, to be eligible for admission if it is an entrance exam.
Counselling: The candidate will have to appear for the counselling session conducted at the university to book their seat, submit their documents and pay the fees to seal admission.
