The scientific study of language is known as Linguistics. The study involves analyzing language form, meaning and context. The basic analysis comes from observing an interplay between sound and meaning in any human language which is spoken. Since the time man started communicating with one through signs and noises, Linguistics also deals with social, cultural, historical and political factors which influence language. Research on language shows how the study has evolved and grown over an extended period of time. The earliest documentation and description of language has been attributed to the 6th century BC Indian grammarian who wrote a formal description of the Sanskrit Language.
