All About BVoc
BVoc which is also known as Bachelor of Vocation is a three-year undergraduate course which offers education for various skills. Candidates also have multiple exit options wherein they can leave after completing first year and second year and are awarded with a Diploma and Advanced Diploma, respectively. BVoc courses are offered in full-time mode across top polytechnic colleges and other leading universities.

Who can pursue BVoc?
BVoc can be pursued by candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent in any stream. They must have the zeal to develop skills through practical work, job training and project work. They must aspire to enter various sectors such as Automobiles, Entertainment, IT, Marketing, Agriculture, Telecommunications, Construction, Tourism, Printing and Publishing. They will acquire professional knowledge and Core Skills which will make them competent to enter into the market and cater to the demands.
What is the scope of BVoc?
After completing BVoc, candidates are either awarded with a Diploma or Advanced Diploma or B.Voc depending on the number of education credits completed by the candidates. They can work in sectors such as Automotive, Electronics, Healthcare, Industrial Safety, Industrial Tool Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, Travel and Tourism, Renewable Energy, Printing and Packaging Technology etc. Many colleges encourage industrial training and candidates are given stipend for the same. They are also recruited by these industries and are absorbed as full-time employees in these organisations by the end of the BVoc Course.
Eligibility Criteria for BVoc
Candidates can check the below listed eligibility criteria to apply for BVoc courses:
- To apply for BVoc course, candidates must have successfully completed Class 12 from a recognised board with a minimum 50% - 60% marks.
- BVoc eligibility criteria may vary depending on the candidate’s chosen specialisation and policy of the college/ university in which s/he is applying.
- Candidates possessing Matriculation or Diploma qualification can also apply for various Vocational courses.
- Admissions are done on the basis of merit list which is released after declaration of results for Senior Secondary Examination. It is also done on the basis of scores and cut-off for various entrance examinations conducted either by the respective colleges or State Education Board.
Entrance Exams for BVoc 2023
Bachelor of Vocation course is offered by institutes based on the marks scored by the candidates in the qualifying examinations. Institutes conduct their own entrance examination which is a screening test for serious and non-serious candidates. Most of the colleges and universities offering Bachelor of Vocation courses provide admission to candidates on the basis of a written entrance exam followed by a personal interview round. However, few universities also provide direct admission candidates on the basis of their marks scored in Class 12. BVoc entrance exam pattern is such that the written paper contains multiple-choice questions related to subjects such as General Awareness, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Current Affairs, and Language (English/ Hindi). Personal interview round is conducted to assess candidates’ general aptitude for the BVoc course. Students could go for a Master's Degree in vocational education after completing BVoc.

Course Curriculum for BVoc
As stated above, a BVoc course is of three-years duration, further divided into six semesters. The course curriculum of BVoc is industry-based which contains about 40% general education (theory) and 60% vocational training (practical) components. This means that apart from studying the regular curriculum, all students need to undergo industrial training or project work for at least four to eight weeks every semester.
