Dropping a year requires a lot of conviction, guts and focussed mind to succeed at the end. Drop only if you have no other good option available. And if you decide to drop, make sure you land in a very good college so that you can explain this decision to companies or admission officers in future if you plan to do masters.

You can refer books like Arun Sharma for Verbal/Quant/DI-LR. You can start preparation now, get your basics clear of Algebra/Trigonometry, Ratios and Proportions. Keep practicing on verbal section (topics like Jumbled Sentences/ Reading Comprehension/ Para-completion). Its better if you look to join a coaching institute for preparation as they have a planned schedule with weekly tests.

Hi,
It is good to drop a year for scoring well in CAT exam and going for premier business school is recommendable, if your past academic record is excellent. 99 percentile won't get you admission as the other factors will also be considered. So, if you have good academic record, you can drop a year.
All the best.
