Very interesting question.
1st of all, you are engineering pursuing or passed out. If you have 3rd year students or final year students, then store all 3-4 years question patterns and watch which section ask more no of questions 2nd thing you which section is good or bad. Focus on that section. If passed out, take coaching. All the best.

Firstly You start the NCERT book and read it very carefully after that you choose some other book and class DPP chapter wise module and you should practice previous year's questions which chapter you read from chapter wise question bank and after completing the whole syllabus, you should solve the previous year questions from mix question bank with set proper time and join any text series. As only a month is left for the JEE Advanced exam, you should follow these preparation tips & strategies:
From now, don't study any new topic. Revise the ones you have studied. Stay updated with the latest notifications and news.
Focus on the most important topics of JEE Advanced exam. Make regular notes of the important stuff. This will help you in your last minute preparation. Solve previous years question papers and take online mock tests. This will give you an idea about the patter and difficulty level of the questions. Learn all the important formulas.

It is really early for you to even think of starting preparing for GATE. The syllabus of GATE is same as that for engineering and you are still in 1st semester. Right? There could many changes in exam pattern in next four years. So I would advise you strongly to concentrate on studies of your engineering and think of this exam only after three years.
