You need to give GRE and/or TOEFL for doing MS outside. There are various sections in GRE. You can cover them around 2-3 months before the exam date. First of all it does not depend on how many hours you study but how much you study sincerely. Yes, there are some students who study recklessly throughout the day but this is only possible on holidays. if you r going in an institution which has more working hours,12 hours study might tire you.
12 hours studies can be achieved if you study for 2 hours continuously and then take 20 min break in between from morning till night. This sounds quite hectic.
