If you are in first year of your engineering, then after going in second year, you should start studying. Syllabus for GATE is all subjects of second, third and fourth year. You have to make hard work from 2nd year engineering by concentrating on minor points.

The coaching class doesn't matter. I think a coaching class will only teach how to rate a topic rather than how to study the topic. So, always remember the student from Akash, Bansal, PACE, ALLEN, etc. never wins the Nobel or Barat Ratna prize because they have studied only JEE or boards.

The IIMC paper has 50% marks for current affairs, and 50% for English. For the first section, be abreast of last 6-month news; The top scams, the schemes which government undertook, etc. Even organisations or people that have been in news recently, and what for. PMAT broadly has two test sections- Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability. You need to focus on section wise topics, solve mock tests. Your preparation level and scores are well reflected through your mock tests. There is no section wise time limit of the test, hence you have to be careful about the time management factor. Divide the time wisely between the two sections while solving mocks. Allot time to each section and save the last 15 minutes for revision. Follow the same through the last week and on the test day.
