These days there are a lot of freely available resources to get you started. I think what you could start with is a bit of reading since VFX is such a wide field and identify what interests you most. Otherwise, you could start with learning 3D modelling and texturing, rigging and animation, effects, and compositing like a generalist. I think the key really is identifying what you really want to do in VFX and focusing on that. There is obviously no harm in knowing a bit about all aspects (employers prefer that for sure), but mostly there should be a singular area of focus.

You can also apply for the Ph.D. courses at the state and central universities. You can also apply for assistant professor posts at state and central universities. If there are no job openings in the government sector, you can also go to private and deemed-to-be universities, which of course pay handsome salaries because you clear the NET. Teach online or offline coaching to people advancing from Bachelor's to master's degrees, as well as students preparing for NET exams.

Depending on what degree u r planning, it will vary. The basic difference in education abroad and india is lack of research here as it starts at master's or higher level. While indian universities offer placements, Universities abroad train u well to get a job on Your own. Degree like law, CA, MBBS and even MBA from IIMs are better to be done here if u plan to practice in india.
