When we use the term IT, generally, it doesn't replicate IT stream for any course i.e. BE/ B.Tech, it specifies IT industry as a whole which includes both CSE and IT. The answer to your question is CSE is more preferred as compared to IT as options for the job profiles are little higher for CSE.

There innumerable opportunities in this as well as other fields also. In fact 50% fresh engineering graduates could not get placements including some from IIT's also.
