Placements records of CSE, IT, ECE are good in VIT but if you compare CSE is better and closed till rank 7000 where as ECE 12000 approximately.
In Indian context : not much difference. All the companies which allow CSE also allow IT. So join any of the stream that you get.

Although the college placement is decent it is not student-friendly college. You need to study everything by yourself. In nutshell, I can say, basically youtube, coursera will be your friend throughout. So if you have better options go with that. Lastly, you will always look for this college as an option.
