Admission to a specific college or branch based on JEE Main percentile can vary depending on factors such as the number of available seats, competition, and the category you belong to. With a 72 percentile mark in JEE Main it may be challenging to secure admission to top-tier colleges or popular branches like Computer Science Engineering (CSE) in renowned institutes. However, there are several colleges that offer CSE branches and have a relatively lower fee structure. Some of these colleges may consider candidates with a percentile around 72. It's important to note that specific college rankings and fee structures can change over time, so ... View more

VNITian,

Of course, go for DY Patil CSE, it's a better option. In comparison or as per ranking, DY Patil is good and you are getting CSE too, so that's good. My recommendation is to go for DY Patil CSE. DY Patil is a reputed college and the academics as well as placements over there are good.

Knowledge is meant to be shared,

In this college, you can easily get the desired stream by the marks you have scored in JEE Mains. But for the CS there may be the chances that you cannot be able to get it because this is the branch which gets filled quickly.

It depends on the college you choose. If you are selected in NITs, and you belong to a general category, the fee is around 1.75 lakhs. Likewise, private colleges have their own fee structure.

You're so right with your intuitions. The college provides average placements and have very strict rules to follow for four years. There's a compulsory dress code, hike in fees and it won't be easy to score for internals.

Hi Ritika,
You can check University of Saskatchewan, University of Windsor, University of Manitoba, Concordia University, also 2-3 more competitive ones such as University of Alberta and McGill etc in Canada. MS admissions in Canada are very competitive and you must have a strong research oriented profile. Check University College Dublin, University College Cork and Waterford Institute of Technology in Ireland. You can refer to this link for more options and the fees etc

You cannot get admission in class 12th. After clearing 12th boards, one needs to sit for JEE Mains exam. Forms must be out till now I guess. Cut off for CSE branch in SGSITS is quite high. You have to score high in JEE Mains exam so as to get under 20,000 rank. Although this may vary according to cutoff and of course category but as it is the first filled branch of our college so expectations are always high.

#NITian,

CSE & ECE are the top branches and are not easy to get with this rank. You still got some chances for ECE but none for CSE. You might get some lower branches as number of seats are about 1500-2000 and 70% reservation are for stream 1.

You should apply for all the nits, iiits, and other government funded institutes also. Just participate in the counselling process wisely and smartly and go till the last round of the counselling process. You will definitely get a seat in your home state.

CSE is one of the top branches of Techno Main Salt lake College, but I would not suggest it as the first option for B.Tech in CSE. You can try for it if you are not getting any college through JEE Mains or WBJEE rank or can try direct admission in any other college. It does not have any much of campus life and no surety if there are hostels available or not and no clarity on the faculty qualifications also.

In terms of placements, VIT Vellore's IT programme normally surpasses that of Symbiosis Pune's CSE program. For the year 2024, VIT Vellore reported an average package of 9.9 LPA and a the highest package of 88 LPA and saw participation from 867 recruiters, which included top companies like Amazon and Microsoft12. On the other hand, Symbiosis Pune has a strong placement record but usually offers lower average packages compared to VIT. Therefore, if placement is the main concern, VIT Vellore is the better choice for pursuing IT.

According to the yearly cutoff trends, an OBC student seeking admission to Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat's Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) branch must get a certain number of JEE Main points. To get a place in CSE under the other state quota, an OBC student normally needs to score in the 94–96 JEE Main percentile or better. Approximately 150 to 180 marks would be earned for this, depending on how difficult the test was. Home-state candidates may have somewhat lower cutoffs. It is essential to keep a high rank because CSE is one of the most sought-after branches.
