One more thing, if you want to do B.Tech in CSE then go to a place which asks for minimum attendance and utilize the time in learning languages like C, C+ as they are mostly asked during placements.

By seeing last year cutoff, 120 above marks will be enough for general category to get admission in COEP. Also, MH CET exam is another option to get admission in COEP.

With 84.33 marks it's a not bit difficult because one would remain at the border line. Perhaps 70 would have a surety. However, it is not the marks rather rank that decides. Your son has to clear JEE Advanced for getting into any of the IITs in the country. He has done well in JEE Mains. I think he is eligible to apply for JEE Advanced. Through JEE Mains, one can only get NITs, IIITs and other colleges, but not IIT.
