If good companies visit the college for placement, then both CSE and ECE graduates get almost equal packages. So basically it depends on the fact whether the college calls good companies for placement for both branches. So before taking admission, have a look at last years placement of that particular college from their website and talk to some recent alumini to get inside information.

Management & IT Consultant,

Aerospace is a niche branch of engineering, therefore, scope and job opportunities are lesser in comparison to CSE. With outcry against outsourcing in the western world, CSE graduates future in next few years will be challenged. CSE graduates will face competition from MCA, M.Sc CS/ IT or other engineering degree holders. Aerospace engineering is full of innovation and has good job opportunities with DRDO or ISRO and Indian Air Force. You may choose your engineering degree based on your interests to excel in a professional career.

It all depends on the rank that you get in NPAT(entrance test). Depending upon availability of seats, there is no perfect cutoff for streams. Rank within 1000 should be good to get admission into the stream. However, just to be safe try scoring under 600.

Percentile is only an indicator; the game lies on ranks. However, if your son is a 'home' candidate there yes. There is a higher chance of getting CSE. But if he is an 'other state' candidate then a bit of tough. But my opinion is only suggestive.
