Hello,
Students who have not qualified in the entrance exams (not achieved the cut-off rank) are not allowed to attend the counselling process for admission. However, if after the counselling process, some seats are left vacant, then some students are allowed to participate in the counselling process to fill up those seats. This is as per the sole discretion of the college management and isn't mandatory.
I hope this answers your question. If you have any further questions, kindly revert.

Hello Shivam,
Until 2015, it was possible to take direct admission in most of the private engineering colleges in India without appearing for any entrance examination. However, 2016 onwards, Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) has made it mandatory to have a valid score in the respective entrance examination for every student, regardless of whether you take admission via counselling or direct admission.
If a student doesn't have a valid score in the respective entrance examination, the corresponding university will not accept the registration of the student, thereby cancelling his/her admission. So, beware of those fr... View more

I would suggest you to appear for AIEEE. This entrance examination also provide admission to government colleges, which are cost-effective.
I would also suggest you to appear for individual state examinations (OJEE in Odisha, EAMCET in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana, COMEDK in Karnataka, etc.). These exams also guarantee you good colleges and serve as a backup, in case things don't end up the way you've planned for IIT/ AIEEE.
Every state has its own share of good engineering colleges. So, don't underestimate or overlook them. They can prove to be vital. The more the entrance examinations you appear for, the more the options y... View more
