A good score in the NET exam always helps. You can get a job by applying when the government universities release advertisement for recruiting professors, they conduct an exam and if you pass it then you are almost good to go. Just an interview follows, usually. Also, in the meantime, you can start teaching at a private or deemed university. Experience always counts positively.
There is also a provision of teaching along with pursuing Ph.D. Look into that too.

Happy to help!!,

Not really, it's just an issue till the first job.
If you are already working somewhere, when you have your degree completed, they might even absorb you in the organisation itself.
It does not matter in the long run, the number of attempts.
What really matters is your knowledge and skill set, your practical exposure, your understanding of various subjects and topics.
Remember, you get job only because of your degree but that's not a guaranteed one.
You survive on the job with your performance.
Go strong.
All the best!

With Government moving out of major industries, diluting its equity in PSUs and encouraging privatization, jobs in Government sector will start reducing in time to come. Also current government has a large focus on Infrastructure Development in PPP model. Therefore, you must not shut your options of civil engineering jobs in private sector. It is recommended that you join private firm to start your civil engineering career. You can appear for PSU PO entrance exam to increase your probability of getting a Government job ( By the Government is also for going ahead with its plan of privatization of public sector bank.)
