What is your category? It is really difficult, if you are from All Indian Category other than Odisha, because the institute has been added to JOSSA from this year, which means the cutoffs will increase exponentially as compared to previous years.
But, don't lose hope and try in as many colleges as possible.

After completing B.Tech, I don't think Diploma in hotel management will be good idea. Now, the fees varies from college to college.

SRM is good. Better placement record and the campus is very good. Faculty members are very good. Yes, the fee structure is horrible. If you can afford SRM then it will be good for you.

So, you can prepare exam through online mode and I suggest you to focus on your studies right now and from third year, you can start your preparation as all the portions of syllabus in GATE is from Engineering 4 year course.

According to my opinion nandini Chandigarh group of colleges are better than YMCA. One of the main reason is the teaching quality and the placement facility of Chandigarh group of colleges are really far better than YMCA College.
