Hello Hartej,The marks that a student need to score in JEE Mains for getting admission in Thapar Institute of Technology varies between categories of students. If you are from Punjab then scoring 100 in JEE Mains will perhaps get you the branch you desire, however if you are from outside Punjab then you need to score higher at 130 marks to get admission in this branch. Here I would like to caution you because these are the marks that got admission for previous years. This doesn’t matters to get in IIT. If your JEE Mains marks will be above the cutoff, and if you qualify the second paper for JEE Advance, then that score card of your 2 paper will decide, whether you will get an IIT or not.

So, choose such a college which is having an excellent staff with outstanding placements. The second thing is your interest. You should select a branch in which you are interested rather than which is trending. There are core branches which remain effective even after the recession like civil, electrical and mechanical. No, you can't get admission in the CET, Bhubaneswar in CSE as you rank will be somewhere around 1,80,000 and this is some far away from CSE/It cutoff. Not in 1st round but hope you can get a seat in 3rd round or 4th round. But Good luck for you bright future.
