Unfortunately, medium of teaching in IITs or NITs or IIITs is still English. Hence, it's better to get grip on this language. NCERT books are the best.

I have got overall 7.5 bands in IELTS Academics. So, my suggestions are based on that level. I am also assuming you know tenses and other grammatical stuff (I have less problems in this area. It is natural for me)
If you want 7.5 bands prepare for 8. Get a practice partner for speaking preparation. Get a reference material. E. g. makkar IELTS. It is paid but you can find pdf online for free just by googling it. Make sure that you are reading the latest version. Reference material will help you to give reply spontaneously.
