Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) differ primarily in their programme focus and structure. Despite being undergraduate degrees, they differ in terms of their focus on academic subjects and aspirations for their careers.

Bachelor of Arts degree includes liberal arts courses like Literature,  History,  etc. while a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) includes more design studies and intensive art subjects. No, candidates are not eligible for MFA without BFA. Candidates need to have a BFA pass degree to get admission in MFA. Since Fine Arts is a very specialised course requiring particular skills from the students, it is mandatory to have completed BFA in order to be eligible for MFA. Along with BFA, candidates can also undertake additional coursework which will help them to increase their employment opportunities. They can also involve in fellowship programmes offered by various institutes before pursuing MFA.

Ensure that you check out the admission forms and deadlines on their website + Prepare a nice portfolio as your artwork + Be prepared to discuss your artistic interests and goals. Do not forget to ask about the requirements for admissions, fees and scholarships!

Graphic Design is one of the largest departments at the Rhode Island School of Design with over 150 undergraduates exposed to an ocean of opportunities ensuring the students’ strong understanding of design principles, theories of communication, and strategies for proper solving.
