You can certainly pursue MBA through correspondence no doubt. It is mostly the matter of Time management rather than legality. It should be legal anyways. I see no such rule that is stopping you from doing it. Many people nowadays pursue a regular Diploma and part time degree at the same time. And they are using both at once too.

This is exclusive of all the other expenses like exam fees, project fees, etc.
The average placement package is 4-5 lacs.

In India, MBA is not offered in Data Science. Since it's more of a technical course, you can pursue M.Tech in Data Science. However, there are many people who are self-taught. So in this way, you too can be one.
Start with learning Maths & Stats. Go ahead with Programming (Python & R), Data Mining, Manipulation, Analytics, Visualisation, etc. as parts of Data Analysis. Further, you can explore more in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing and hence Artificial Intelligence to be a Data Scientist.
