If the gap is not for more than 2 years then it is not a problem. There are many students who reappear to get better scores. To make best of such a situation in the interim period, you should start working and gain some work experience. This will give you an edge over other students at the time of your final placement.

Yeah you can give a try since you have very good academics, and the cat cutoffs vary every year . so nothing is predictable . all the best
