The main motive of the university to provide this is that they want their students to grow up according to other universities in the world.
But as far as the difference is concerned, it is almost the same as B.Tech.

You can get direct admission very easily. According to your percentage in class 12th, you are not eligible for scholarship, but you can apply for CUSAT form and all other information related to CUSAT is on our site cuchd.in. You can login and be the part of our fastrack, for more detailed information. And, as you decision is concerned, you are at your right path for pursuing B.Tech in CU. There is not a big difference between these two. Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) has three campuses. Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landra (2001), Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Gharuan (2009), CGC University. After that CGC-Gharuan is transformed to Chandigarh University, Gharuan. Now, it's affiliated to University Grant Commission (UGC). Now, it's independent entity. Have its own courses and curriculum. But placement is joint.
