Campus life gives experiences such as mingling with fellow students, attendance of events, and easily accessing academic resources. The "campus life," however, is not quite similar to bigger universities, because the Design Institute of San Diego is a small college. Staying off-campus could give more independence and privacy, and it might even cost less, but there will be no close community feel that on-campus living will give.
