Such other high scores (from above 85% or so) in your SSC exams can also get you an admission into the Humanities stream in some of the top Mumbai colleges after the 10th. For example, St. Xavier's, Sophia, and Mithibai admit on merit through the Maharashtra FYJC online portal - 11thadmission.org.in.

So, you'll have to post results for June 2025 with your application, where they select Humanities (History, Sociology) and take along the following for submission: SSC marks, proof of residence, and a category certificate, if applicable. They announce admission lists in rounds; to secure the seat, one must pay the fees on time.

In terms of scope, the M.A. in Political Science from a 40-year perspective is broad-based and feasible. Teaching, research, journalism, and civil services prep (e.g., UPSC) open out in this field, though competitive exams sometimes have age restrictions.

Mature professionals hold suitable positions working as policy analysts, political consultants, or in NGOs, with initial salary prospects ranging from INR 3 to 8 LPA. A Ph.D. or a job after NET in administration or teaching in the government would yield salaries like INR 40,000-60,000 per month. Maturity brings experience, very much enhancing any opportunity or prospect in advoca

No, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) generally does not allow lateral entry into the 2nd year of its B.A. (Hons) programs. Admission is on the basis of JNU Entrance Exam (now CUET-UG) at the first year only, which has a structured three-year curriculum. For undergraduate courses at JNU, lateral entry is rare.

In as much as that, the system is inclined towards continuous progression. There may be exceptions for particular cases (such as transfer students) but there was no general late lateral entry policy upto now so, you would have to start from the first year after qualifying via CUET-UG and meeting eligibility (10+2 with 50%+ marks).

There are a number of B.Sc Psychology universities offering admissions to 12th Arts students in Mumbai Colleges. St. Xavier's College, Autonomous, has an open B.Sc Psychology offering, which requires decent HSC percentage of around 60-70% as entry. Sophia College for Women also has a similar programme open for Arts students with marks of 50-60%.

Mithibai College of Arts welcomes Arts students to be able to join the entry into B.Sc Psychology, with merit-based entry requirements (usually 65%+). The colleges are affiliated to the University of Mumbai and have given much practical theory training.

The most recent cutoff B.A. in Sociology at PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, will differ based on category and admission cycle.

For the academic year from 2024-25, the merit-based cutoff is usually on the higher side, generally falling within 85-90% range in terms of 10+2 for the general category, 80-85% for OBC, and 70-75% for SC/ST if the weightage is given to the Tamil Nadu Board or equivalent marks.

As of now, March 28, 2025, the cutoff for 2025-26 is still in the works, but it will most likely be towards the same trend depending upon the number of applicants and number of seats (50-60 seats).

The closing date for applying to the M.A. in History at Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) in the year concerned is rather loose; an open university is not expected to have strict score cutoffs.

Admission is based on merit, requiring a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks in History or related subjects. Eligibility was open to all graduates who qualify for admission for the session 2024-25, with no entrance test or cutoff percentile. Come March 28, 2025, the cycle for the 2025-26 session follows suit—application processes remain open until the filling up of the seats, normally during June and July. The fees are around INR 7
