Dear Candidate,
You may sure get into an IIM but first you should complete a Bachelor's degree then also apply in CAT exam. You should get highest schore in CAT than you may apply in IIM.

Yes you can get admission. In order to pursue full time MBA or PGDM program you need:
Graduation in any field with at least 50% aggregate marks to be eligible to apply. Then, you need to clear the selection process of the B-school, starting with an entrance test accepted by the B-School. For e.g. CAT, MAT, SNAP, CMAT.

IIM's do have scholarship schemes based on score and other criteria. You can check with them.

Admission in IIM is totally depends on your CAT score. You are passed with a good percentage but need to work hard to crack CAT with a good percentile.

A low graduation score might have acted as a hindrance in getting the calls .Top IIMs are giving lesser weightage to CAT and more to academics and profile. Tell your son to not be disappointed and ask him to give CAT 2016 with greater prep and rigour. Anything about 99.3% should get him through to the top IIMs ,with an year of work experience only helping to strengthen his candidature even further.

Hi Prathamesh. I suppose you are asking for a drop after high school or graduation. Frankly speaking, it is not viewed as a good sign by IIMs. But if you can justify that gap and tell them what extraordinary you achieved in that, it will be perfectly fine. All the best!
