For admission to first year of MCA in any institution affiliated to AKTU (like IET), Lucknow, a candidate must have passed Bachelors degree course of 03 Years minimum duration from any recognised Indian University; or its equivalent, recognised by A.I.U. securing minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate.

For admission to the MCA programme at GITAM Institute, candidate must have passed in any degree with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks and Mathematics/Statistics at +2 level or degree level or equivalent examination. Apart from this, candidates need to clear any of the APICET, or GITAM GAT entrance test . Graduation final year students may also apply on a provisional basis.

To be eligible for the BCA programme at GITAM School of Science Visakhapatnam the aspiring candidates need a minimum of 50% or 5.0 CGPA (55% in the case of CBSE, ICSE, ISCSE, IGSCE, and IB) in Class 12/Intermediate or equivalent. To be selected for the BCA programme candidates must appear for the GAT (UG Science) conducted by the institute.
