Yes, you can prepare for CAT at home. First, clear your basics and then move forward.
Here are some books that you can refer for your preparation:-
1) Quants - First solve the NCERT from 6th to 10th standard and then solve M.Tyra and Rs Aggarwal. These books will strengthen your foundation. Once you complete these books you can go for Arun Sharma.

Hello Pavan,
Here is the link to the list of colleges accepting MAT: https://www.shiksha.com/mba/colleges/mba-colleges-accepting-mat-india
Since, the cut off changes every year, you will have to personally check with your desired college for their cut off list.
And, then you can look at their placement graph, and what companies they are tied up with.
Good Luck.

Hello Sohail,
You can individually apply to colleges of your choice now.
And also, most of the colleges will approach you even if you haven't applied to them, as they keep the MAT exam score database with them.
Good luck!

Hello Afzal,
There are many more exams other than CAT like MAT, XAT (XLRI), SNAP (Symbiosis), etc.
I would ask you to focus on CAT.
If you happen to prepare for CAT well, you will easily get through other exams as well.
MAT is the easiest of them all.
XAT for XLRI is little tough than CAT.
For SNAP and XAT, a little more practice is required for English section.
Nothing is tough if you are determined though.
Go through the syllabus first.
Good luck!

Just go for CAT now because it is very tough and competitive and you have to give a lot of time to CAT syllabus. If you will go for it in the 3rd-year then you cannot complete the course on time and can not score well as you are an average student. So, you need to work very hard from now. Good luck and go for it.
