Past academic achievement does not guarantee you a seat in IIM But yes they matters in overall selection procedure. First you have to score 99+ percentile in CAT and have to perform well in GD and PI to get into IIM A/B/C. Getting a call from an IIM is not a big deal but converting it is herculean task. Technical background doesn't have much influence on the subject you want to choose. You can choose any subject that has your interest or if you are not sure then proceed with regular MBA.
