Yes, it is possible to join PIET without JEE Mains. PIET offers admission to 25% of its seats through management quota, and the remaining vacant/unfilled seats are filled by the institute level manual counselling, firstly on the basis of entrance exam merit. The admission process for B.Tech and Diploma courses is based on the JEE Main/HSTES merit. However, admission to other courses may be based on the scores of qualifying degree or national level exams. Therefore, candidates who do not have a JEE Main score can still apply for admission to PIET through other modes.

The eligibility criteria for BTech admissions at PIET are as follows:
- Candidate must have studied Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subject and Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Electronics/ Information Technology/ Biology/ Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies/ Entrepreneurship with 45 precent marks in the above subject taken together from any recognised Board/council.
- 45% aggregate(40% marks in case of SC/ ST category).
