Sikkim University is at present located in and around Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, which borders Bhutan, China, and Nepal on its east, north, and west respectively. Sikkim is one of the world’s the richest bio-diversity hot spots and one of the twenty top tourist destinations. The University is mandated to contribute to the nation-building process by mobilizing the rich intellectual heritage of the State of Sikkim, by promoting the creative talents of its youths and by developing itself as a premier national institution.

Sikkim University takes applications from the deserving UG and PG students for merit-cum-means scholarship in the prescribed format. Meritorious students who have secured 55% (50% for SC, ST, and OBC) in qualifying examination/ overall percentage of previous semesters as the case may be (50% for renewal cases) with an average family income of less than INR 60,000/- per annum and receiving no other scholarship/ financial assistance from any other source are eligible to apply.
