BTech at IIT Ropar is offered in nine specialisations namely Computer Science and Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Civil Engineering, Metallurgical  Materials Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. To be eligible for these programmes candidates need a minimum of 75% in class 12 exam.

The institute offers various scholarships like Merit-cum-Means, Institute-Free Studentship, etc. The institute offers Merit-cum-Means Scholarships to undergraduate students in Engineering and Technology. These are provided to about 25% of the students. The present value of Merit-cum-Means scholarship is INR 1,000 per month for General Category students and the recipient is exempted from paying tuition fees. Additionally, Merit-cum-Means Scholarships is also offered to MSc students. 

IIT Ropar offers the GATE fellowship to Indian Nationals pursuing the M.Tech course. The fellowship provides a monthly stipend of INR 12,400, which can be availed for a maximum duration of 24 months.  Recipients of the fellowship are required to contribute eight hours per week to assist the department in various academic activities. These activities may include laboratory demonstrations, tutorials, evaluating assignments and test papers, conducting seminars, and engaging in research projects, among others.
