IIT Ropar - Indian Institute of Technology Answered Questions

Well I am not from the CSE department but I think I ll be able to answer this question. First of all, IIT Hyderabad, Indore and Ropar are the top IIT. Among the IIT. Established in 2008. Also, as per the NIRF rankings of 2016 and 2017, IIT Ropar has been ranked as the 3rd best IIT of 2008. Also, these 2008 IIT. Have almost completed a decade and it will be unfair to call them a new IIT. They have established themselves in the past 9 years and are still growing at a very fast rate. Almost all of them (including IIT Ropar) have started shifting to their permanent campus. As far as the facilities are concerned, IIT Ropar is sufficiently equipped with all the necessary facilities and laboratories that are required. One of the answer mentions that IIT Ropar is very young compared to NSIT. IIT Ropar has risen to a great extent in these 9 years but some people are not ready to accept that fact. They have made a general perception regarding 2008 IIT. That they are not that much good as compared to the old IIT. Of 2008, were no doubt struggling to establish themselves 4 5 years back but now, they are very much established. Also, their rate of growth is much higher since the government is investing a lot of money for their development. IIT Ropar will no doubt be a better option than NSIT. IIT Ropar is only 9 years old and yet it people prefer IIT Ropar above NSIT which is much older than IIT Ropar. These are some reasons for that the CSE department of IIT Ropar has recorded a placement of more than 90 percent since the last 4 years with an average package of around 16 17 LPA. The overall average package (considering all the departments) offered at IIT Ropar was 12.5 LPA in 201516 and 11.5 LPA in 201617 which is much higher than the average package of NSIT (around 77.5 LPA). Academically, more or less both will be same. Placements depends mainly on your efforts. You can take whichever suits your personal taste. Perks of being at IIT, Mandi include permanent campus at a beautiful location, the climate is awesome and coding culture is developing really fast.

Mentioned college are best on their own place. But, branches are different that you have entered. So, choose branch first which want to pursue. You may go for DTU if you have interest in computer. IIT Kharagpur is also option for you. Metallurgy is also better branch.

Brand Value:IIT Roparis not among the top rated colleges of the country and is a relatively new IIT. Founded in 2008IIT Roparis just 9 years old and it would take some time before the industry recognizes professionals who have graduated from there. NSITon the other hand, founded in 1983 has been an established institution for over 30 years now. Most of the alumni ofNSITare now at top positions in companies as well as pursuing Masters in top foreign institutions such asHarvard, MIT and many more. IIT. Have a brand value only if you are in the top 5 IIT. Else there are better institutions out there, especially NSIT as its a part of Delhi University. Placements:NSIT has stellar placements in tech, non-tech and core companies. We have people working in Texas Instruments, Google, Uber, Microsoft, BCG, McKinsey, Brain only to name a few. Don't have much about IIT-Ropar placements. Quality of faculty, Curriculum and academics:NSIT boasts of few of the top professors of the country likeProf. Raj Senani, Prof. Harish Parthasarthy only to name a few. Their LOR (Letter Of Recommendation) can literally take you places! As far as curriculum and academics considered Sits syllabus has recently been updated as per industry standards and also the academics are good. Classes are held regularly and also we have a 75% attendance criteria. Coding Culture:NSIT has an amazing coding environment. We have amazing coders, who make it to GSoCevery year. Also, some of them are ranked highly at sites like TopCoder and CodeChef. Peer Interactions:NSIT will give you an essence of actual college life. The seniors are extremely helpful and are always there to guide you along the way. Moreover, many seniors share their placements materials with many juniors to help them during placements. Sometimes, some of the close seniors may even provide you with a referral at their companies to land you an interview!
