Honestly, It helps but it's not a deal-breaker! Here's the real deal that If you're good at drawing/sketching, great it'll help you with concepts, illustration and ideation. But even if you aren't most Graphic Arts courses teach you from scratch from shapes, forms and composition to digital drawing.
Plus, tools like Adobe Illustrator, Procreate and Canva make life easier for non-traditional artists. So, What matters more is your creativity, visual sense, patience and willingness to learn.
