Product Manager | IIM Ahmedabad,

There is no specific required time for preparation. It depends from person to person and his/her ability to grasp concepts.
For majority students, I'd recommend joining a one year program at a proper coaching center. It typically starts around August, September and coaches you till the exam next year.
Make sure that you give all their mock tests and analyze the results as well (where you went right, where you went wrong). That always help you find your strengths and weaknesses and thus tackle your main exam accordingly.

Open to questions regarding MBA,

For Masters, you have to crack the entrance exam, you can pursue Masters in finance or marketing wherever your interest lies but having a B.Com background, you would have basic finance related knowledge which you could apply in MBA in finance. Getting into top B-Schools should be your priority.

Hello Hardik,
To be honest, nobody else but you can answer this question best. If you are interested in your family business, then go for it. Or, if you believe you have better chances with CAT (MBA), then choose MBA.
You also have an option of gaining experience from that business first and then pursuing CAT.

The time span doesn't really matter, but the dedication matters.
CAT is not an easy nut to crack.
You will have to give your best to pass through it with flying colors.
MAT is an easy option as its difficulty level is below CAT.

Ideally, students start their preparation for CAT and other management entrance tests from the 2nd year onwards. -Starting by understanding the syllabus and the concepts of each section. -Once you are thorough will the syllabus, practice with mock tests, and identify your strengths as well as weak areas. -Be consistent with your stronger portions and keep working on your loose ends too. -If a particular topic is out of your understanding, don't waste much time on that. Rather try to improve the sections you are performing on average. -No student ever tries to attempt the whole exam. Strategies & plan on attemptin... View more

If you do CA then you don't need to do MBA and if you do MBA then you don't need to go for CA. Who told you that CA has less finance curriculum? It's completely wrong. CA is totally about finance, accounts, auditing, and taxation and you can do CA after MBA but in my opinion, you should do one of these.

Yes, SNAP can be considered easier than all other MBA entrance exams but one needs to still prepare for it with complete dedication. The SNAP may be considered easier as it is a 60-minute exam and the number of questions is also 60. The English section does not have RC passages and QA-DI are easy. Moreover, one can attempt it thrice in the same academic session and use the best score of all attempts to seek admission.

It is an autonomous college. So, to get admission you need to appear for their own entrance exam, which is known as SNAP. If any candidate crack SNAP in merit list, he gets a benefit of meritorious scholarship and relaxation for admission.
Xavier’s Institute of Management keeps the right to select candidates from XAT entrance exam.

Yes, MBA is a good choice, but it will be very valuable if you get some work experience before taking MBA course. You can go for specialization which you are interested in. Finance do have maths involved and engineers find it easy to cope up and excel. Operations will be more valuable if you get a chance to work with manufacturing or production companies.
